If you plan to keep a sign outdoors, you have to be prepared for what that entails. You would need a sign that can withstand wetness and weather, remain still when windy, and be both large enough to capture attention while also being of the right material to be easy to move, hang, and more. Outdoor banners are one of the few types of signs to meet all of these qualities.
At Signs NY, our outdoor banners are most often made from vinyl, vinyl mesh, and occasionally fabric. There are other materials available, but it is best to contact us to discuss it. Those three materials are usually the best choice for outdoor banners.
Yes. You can roll them up (not fold them) and unroll them often. They are also transferable. Vinyl can be a bit fragile though, so proper care is important.
Banners can be cleaned with soap and water. If stored rolled up with the graphic on the outside, banners tend to also have a longer lifespan. It is not recommended that you fold your banner or clean it with any harsh solvents.
There are no real color limitations to outdoor banners, but you do need to take into account how the weather might affect color. For example, if a light is shining through a vinyl mesh banner, the color may look different than if it is indoors. Talk to our experts for more information about how to adjust the color based on where it will be shown.
Banners can be made to be incredibly large. We can create banners as tall as 12 feet and as wide as 160 feet, so size is rarely an issue. If you have a specific outdoor banner size request, please contact us and we’ll see what we can do.
As long as you care for them, they can last you for months – possibly even years. It depends on weather environments, but vinyl is very hardy. Just make sure you care for it gently and clean it regularly, and it could last you for a long time. Keep in mind though that banner are not usually meant to be long term signs, because of how strong weather can affect them. Each banner’s longevity is case by case.
Yes. We have three different color grommets available for our banners, including white, black, and silver.
Of course. Outdoor banners will last longer indoors as well. But there may be some better options for indoor signs instead. Contact us if you have any questions.
Wind is definitely one of the weather issues that can affect the lifespan of your outdoor banner. If you are placing it on a fence, or you expect wind to be a significant issue, you may want to consider our mesh banners which allow wind to fly through while your banner stays in place.
